WHY WE DO A FORMAL MEMBERSHIP?
Church Membership at Gathering is about effectively shepherding the sheep who make up our flock. Membership is open to all who have placed their faith in the Gospel and believe God is calling them to make Gathering their church home.
Profession
Gathering’s membership process provides us an opportunity to hear an individual’s testimonies of faith in the Gospel.
Clarity
In an age of church hopping a formal membership helps us identify those who consider Gathering their church home.
Shepherding
Membership enables church leadership to know whom makes up the “flock of God among them” that they are accountable to shepherd well. 1 Pt 5:2
Accountability
A formal membership establishes accountability for members to the leadership and an accountability for leadership to the members
Assimilation
A formal membership process provides a pathway for new attenders to become connected through community and service.
Commitment
In an anti-committal society it is important to encourage the godliness of commitment. Also, what is a meaningful experience is also a committed experience.
